Sharpreader Vs Bloglines

About a month ago I purchased a laptop
to bring with me on my world travels but my RSS reader of choice,
Sharpreader,
didn’t have the ability to syncronise the feeds that I had read on my main
computer with the copy I’d installed on the laptop.

After looking around I found a web based
RSS reader called BlogLines. As it’s web based you can log in from any
computer and it will show you only the entries that you haven’t read yet.
The interface is quite nice and fairly fast.  You can also download
a small system tray utility that will notify you of new unread RSS feeds
and you can get versions of the notifier for Windows, Mac and Linux.  There
are also browser addin’s available to allow you to quickly subscribe to
new feeds that you may come across.  You can try it out at
http://www.bloglines.com

Don’t forget, you can keep track of
my travels and photos over on

Off on my travels

Dublin –> Perth –> Canberra –>
Sydney –> Hawaii –> Las Vegas –> Orlando –> Dublin

Well the packing has been completed
and I think I have everything.

While I’m away I’ll be blogging at http://world.qtzar.com
so that I can leave this blog dedicated to Notes/Domino news and information.
I’ll also be making lots of use of the BlogSphere photo albums feature
for all the photographs that I’ll be taking.  I’m bringing my Nikon
D50 camera, 18-55 Lens, 70-300 Lens and tripod on this trip so with luck
I’ll manage to get one or two good shots

See you all at Lotusphere in a few weeks.

IBM Blogging mentioned in Irish newspaper

The Irish Examiner ran an interesting article
about the blogging community within IBM.

"Blogging has positively affected
the IBM business culture. IBM’s main blogs run on a Linux I-series platform.
Of the company’s 4671 weblogs (104 in Ireland), half are updated at least
once a week. Besides helping clients learn more about products, these company
weblogs often lace into worldwide PR campaigns. They focus on a certain
topic or a specific product. They help get messages across to the public."
