Migrating Notes Apps to DotNet

Microsoft have just released a book on the MS Download site on how to migrate Lotus Notes applications into the .Net environment. You can have a look at it here

Well somebody should proof read these documents before they are released. The first line of the second paragraph in the introduction states that ‘Notes/Domino R6 is the last planned release of the existing Notes architecture’… Hmm, wonder what I’ve been beta testing then for the past few weeks…

The ‘Overview of Notes And Domino’ is also worth a laugh, they state that Domino can run on many platforms and that 80 percent of domino servers run on Windows. They say it like it’s a bad thing and then fail to mention that Exchange is a Windows only infrastructure.

I’ll let you read the rest, it’s good entertainment…

Hide all the Guinness – Wild Bill is coming to town.

A loooong time ago I blogged about a couple of Identity Management tools for Domino. Well just last week I finally managed to get the powers that be to sign off on a purchase of iDM. So apart from spending the best part of my budget for this year it also means that Wild Bill Buchan will be coming over for 3 days next week to assist in the configuration.

What have I let myself in for….

Oh, and iDM really is a great product, I can’t wait to get this up and running.

Group Blogging and BlogSphere Updates

Just having a quick look through my referers and I came across a link to 3C – InterOp which is a BlogSphere based blog. What’s unusual about this blog is that it has been setup to allow multiple people author content for the system. This is a great way of making sure you have a fairly active blog ( unlike this one ) as with multiple authors there’s bound to be a lot more updates. I always knew that the Written By field would come in handy someday. Keep up the good work guys and nice to see people still using the template.

I know that lots of people have been looking for updates and that there has been loads bug fixes and speed fixes mentioned on a number of sites in the past while. Well the truth is that my job seems to be sucking up most of my life at the moment and time is a big problem.

If anybody wants to volunteer to take over the project for a while then just contact me and I will give them access to the development server and code, Maybe get all the speed issues fixed up and release a new version of the template, that would be a great start. Let me know if your interested.
